Scottish Centre for Administrative Data Research
Our centre is a hub for organisations, policy-makers, researchers and members of the public who are involved and interested in the use of public sector data for the public good.
We process (collect, store and use) the data of some people we work with, who use our services, or who have come into contact with us through projects, events, meetings or common interests.
How we use information about you
Under the ‘legitimate interest’ legal basis of the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (or ‘consent’ where you have signed up to receive our newsletter), our centre uses the personal information that you provide to us, as a professional contact, partner of the centre or researcher, in order to:
- Provide you with information on programmes you are participating in or support or services you have requested
- Collaborate with you on shared initiatives, opportunities, projects and bids
- Administer your attendance at our events, and share follow-up information such as presentations
- Send you electronic newsletters about relevant news, updates, events and opportunities using Campaign Monitor. You can read Campaign Monitor’s privacy notice on their website. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link in the footer of any marketing email you receive from us, or by contacting us at scadr@ed.ac.uk.
We will not pass your information on to any third parties.
How we keep your data safe
The Scottish Centre for Administrative Data Research has processes in place to keep your information secure, accurate and up to date. We use secure University of Edinburgh filing and email systems.
In addition, we use the following companies to process your information:
- Dotdigital: to send marketing emails. Read their privacy policy.
- Eventbrite: to allocate tickets for events. Read their privacy policy.
We follow University of Edinburgh procedures to ensure that we hold your information only for as long as is necessary and in full compliance with the University of Edinburgh’s Data Protection Policy.
