Charini is a PhD student (thesis under examination) at the Australian National University in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, where she conducts research on record linkage techniques for integrating population data. Charini received her BSc (Hons.) degree in Computer Science from the University of Colombo School of Computing, Sri Lanka. 

As a Senior Research Officer, she contributes to the design and implementation aspects of novel advanced record linkage methods in the Scottish Historical Population Platform project.
